This is a lovely mindfulness technique that can be played with any age, it is also a technique that lasts a life time!
This helps to build creativity and flexible thinking and also just being and watching.
All play is an opportunity for parent-child quality time, building healthy parent-child relationships and practicing positive parenting tips and effective parenting strategies.
Resources
Blanket
Picnic (optional, we love food at Connected Childhood!)
Lay on the blanket
Watch the clouds above
Take turns choosing a cloud and describing it to each other, what does it look like, what would it feel like, what would it smell like, what would it taste like. What does the cloud see, what would it hear, what would it think, where is the cloud going?
A lovely opportunity to make up a story about your cloud, give it a name, does it have a family etc.
The opportunities for conversation are endless. When you get home if your child would like to they could draw the story of their cloud or write the story of their cloud. Do not force this, for some children this would be a real chore and others may love it, so as always take the lead from your child.
Further Play
It might be nice to spend some time another day, painting clouds. Start by painting blue onto a page and then add clouds using white paint and a brush or sponge, having black or grey paint available too for some colour blending and stormy weather!
